SAD NEWS

Hello Readers,
I have sad news to report. My dog Chloe has passed away from complications of diabetes.
As you might have guessed, I have been  writing my ideas through Chloe. After all she was a dog and could not speak or type. But she did have a personality, and if she could have spoken, I think maybe her thoughts would have been something like what has been written in this blog.
At first I thought I would end this blog with her death, but I know the ideas that were spoken in this blog have been the same ideas that so many (in fact most according to the result of the recent popular vote) are thinking. I must let the ideals of Chloe continue to live in a sense by continuing to promote her (my) ideas, but now in my own name.
I will continue to promote gun control and fight back against the NRA. I will continue to promote common sense rational ideas concerning domestic and international politics, especially in the years on the horizon which appear to portend bigotry, authoritarianism, backwardness, and insanity.

AAPS AND THE NEW SECRETARY OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES

Hi American Humans,

Donald Trump’s recent selection of Dr. Tom Price to be Secretary of Health and Human Services has caused me to wonder what has become of you humans. Dr. Price, as expected by a radical right wing Republican, favors destroying Obamacare and promoting the concept that access to medical care is a privilege rather than a right. He also wants to privatize Medicare, and he opposes gun control. All of these are to be expected from a Trump appointment.

But Dr. Price goes a step further. He is a member of the American Association of Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS). The journal of that organization is the Journal of the American Physicians and Surgeons (JPandS). Besides being an extreme right wing organization, AAPS opposes evidence based medicine (medical care based on clinical studies, in other words statistically significant scientific medicine). They promote medical care based only on anecdotal reports (single case reports). In modern medicine, anecdotal reports can be the basis for then subsequently doing controlled scientific studies. They are hardly a substitute for evidence based medicine. Basing all of medicine on anecdotal reports was how it was done in the 19th Century and earlier but not today. Examples of AAPS ideas are opposition to vaccination, opposition to electronic health records, and denying the HIV virus as the cause of AIDS. Their journal is not listed in PUBMED (the NIH search engine for valid health research) because it is not a valid peer reviewed scientific journal. So now the Secretary of Health and Human Services of the United States of America is going to be a member of a pseudo-scientific quackish fringe organization. This is typical Trumpism, a fancy cover but rotten inside. If Dr.Price is to represent health care in America, he should resign from and denounce the AAPS.

ADVICE TO TRUMP

Dear Human Donald Trump,

Let me give you some advice since you are slated to become President of the USA soon, and you say you want to unite America. I know I’m just a dog, but as a domesticated dog I am an astute observer of human behavior. After all, what else do we pets have to do?

You say you want to unify America. I will believe it when I see it. Certainly, your behavior during the campaign did not indicate so. You insulted more than half of the people in America. You can’t spit on people and expect them to love you. So you have to admit that you insulted women, minorities, people of various religions, Gays, and others. Then you have to apologize to them. And you have to reverse yourself and repudiate the bigots in your base, the KKK who support you, the alt right in your inner circle, and the people at your rallies who shouted Nazi slogans like “lugenpresse” and “JewSA.” You also need to admit to your lies about the press being rigged and apologize to the journalists. Also you need to apologize to Hillary Clinton for the lies you told about her.

You also have to repudiate the Tea Party Republicans like Pence and Paul Ryan who want to eliminate taxes on the rich and make the poor and middle class pay the tab.

You also have to stop your love affair with Putin and reassure Europe that America isn’t going to sell them out. You might also admit to whatever ties you have with Putin and Assange concerning hacking into the emails of Clinton and the Democratic Party to get you elected.

Oh, one more thing. Promote stronger gun control laws. How can you honestly pretend to “keep America safe” when you promote a gun anarchy which gives terrorists and screwballs easy access to military style guns to massacre Americans.

Maybe if you do all those things, you might be able to say that you can unite America. But then would you still be Donald Trump?

PROTEST

Hi Humans,
Peaceful protest to let Donald know what the American people think of him is good. Just don't hurt anyone or break anything. That doesn't help. If we dogs had hands and could carry signs, I would be out there waving a sign myself. Donald plays to the crowd. This crowd is critical of his racism, bullying, and his Fascist friends. Let him know that more than half of America opposes him. Keep up the pressure for America, for freedom, for the right cause.

TRUMPCARE = OBAMACARE?

Hi Human Democrats,

So now that Trump will be president, what will become of Obamacare (Affordable health Care)? Well, Obamacare appears to be safe. Trump is now saying he wants to keep a number of Obamacare ideas like not denying insurance for existing health problems and providing insurance for all American humans. But that is Obamacare. Trump says he wants to make it work better, but glitches and necessary adjustments in the system were expected by President Obama, and Hillary Clinton would have made adjustments had she been elected. The importance of Obamacare is not the details, but the fact that you have started on the road of sensible distribution of health care which the Republicans would not have started if left alone. Before Obamacare, Tea party Republicans considered health care a privilege rather than a right. That meant if one could not afford healthcare, one went without care or to a hospital emergency room, which was poor medical care and contributed to driving up the cost of health care. If Trump were to dump Obamacare as some of his Tea Party friends would like, his core blue color working class supporters, many of whom depend on Obamacare would get a sudden kick in the pants. Trump can’t afford to do that.

There are other aspects of a Trump presidency that are more troubling. I will address those later.

A DREAM

Hi Humans of America,

Last night I dreamt that left of center Hillary Clinton won the election and the Republican party reorganized into a right of center party. The future would be two parties debating the real issues in a civil manner, one putting forward progressive ideas and the other saying “just a minute there” to keep progress from running off the tracks. Then I woke up. The dream ended and I entered the nightmare of Donald Trump as president.

TRUMP SUPPORTERS ARE COMMODITIES TO TRUMP

Hi Human Donald Trump Faithful Supporters,
Donald and his Breitbart friends are planning to make money with a "news" media to stir up and represent angry humans. That media will make money from this new movement. They have assigned a dollar value to you because to Donald you are a commodity, just like the students of phony Trump University. Only humans would allow themselves to be played like that. We dogs are smarter.

SOCIALIZATION

Hi Humans,

I admire you humans for your willingness to observe rules. You call it socialization, and you teach it to your children at an early age (by parents and nowadays also in pre-school). We domesticated dogs learn it too. You guys teach it to us (yourselves or in obedience school). Socialization is important to make one’s way in life (for humans or dogs). For a dog it is a matter of survival. If a dog remains so unsocialized that he or she bites humans or defecates on the floor in the house or rips apart the furniture or shows any other destructive actions, that dog could end up in the pound and euthanized (a scary thought). For a human the consequences of inability to socialize are usually not so fatal, but it can certainly affect the quality of life.
Now look at the human, Donald Trump. He seems to be challenged as to socialization. He has plainly said that he can’t stop himself from touching female humans whom he finds attractive. Any criticism causes him to react with little thought. Any flattery will make him your devoted servant. It is amazing that so many humans will follow such an unsocialized leader. Well, this mass human behavior is nothing new. It has happened many times in the past.

VOTE FOR HILLARY

Hi Humans,

So the election is approaching, and it looks like Hillary will win, and Donald will lose. But if you are for Hillary, don’t get complacent, be sure to vote, and advise all your friends to vote for Hillary. Hillary is honest, competent, experienced, and sane. Donald is the opposite. Every time Donald throws out a criticism of Hillary or anyone other than himself, it seems that he is actually talking about his own misdeeds. I think that’s where he gets his ideas.

THE SECOND DEBATE

Hi Humans,

Did you watch the debate last night between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump? Hillary was calm, composed, and presidential as usual. Donald couldn’t stand still. He kept pacing nervously around the stage, looking creepy, and at times following Hillary. As for substance, both essentially said the same stuff they have been saying all along. The one interesting development was Donald saying he disagreed with his running mate Pence concerning the situation in Aleppo. Pence favors intervention, and Donald is an isolationist with no concern for anyone outside his wall. Well, I’ll be happy when November comes and Hillary will be elected president.

CIVILITY

Hi Humans,

As a domesticated dog I admire your human concept of civility. Unlike our cousins in the wild, some of your civility has rubbed off on us domesticated animals because we have been hanging around with you for so many centuries. But we still have our wild doggy instincts that break out no matter how much we want to fit in with you. On the other hand you humans have not lost all of your uncivil behavior, and unfortunately you have the great power to create much greater mischief when you are uncivil. For example, we dogs are not the ones who try to settle our differences with guns and wars. Now in the present US elections, look at Donald Trump. He seems to be unable to control his instincts no matter how much he tries. Donald needs to go to obedience school.

APPEARANCE VERSUS TRUTH

Hi Humans,

The television humans said Pence won the Vice President Debate because he looked more presidential than Kaine. On the other hand, Kaine spoke the truth, and Pence did not tell the truth. When Kaine brought up dumb things that Trump said and Pence parroted, Pence denied that he or Trump said them, but the truth was plainly evident when one looks back at what was said. It seems in judging the debate appearance trumps the truth. Oh well, Hillary is winning anyway, and that’s what really counts. By the way, we are still waiting to see Donald's tax returns.

SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE

Hi Humans,

Did you see Saturday Night Live last night. Of course the elections were front and center. The show started with a great parody of the debate. The best joke I heard was during a later segment, a parody of Family Feud featuring the Trump family and friends versus the Clinton family and friends. The joke was presented by Larry David playing Bernie Sanders. It went something like “Hillary is like prune juice. She doesn’t taste so good right now, but she will prevent you getting clogged up with 4 years of crap later on.” I didn’t see the rest of the show because I had to go to bed (the show comes on at 11:30 PM here in Los Angeles), but I am sure I missed plenty of good stuff.

WHERE DOES TRUMP GET HIS INSPIRATION?

Hi Humans,

It seems that whenever Trump says something derogatory about Hillary Clinton, he is talking about his own inadequacies.

He says “crooked Hillary” when he is the real crook. Look at Trump University where he stole money from vulnerable humans.

He condemns the Clinton Foundation which is a real charity that really does good deeds, but his Trump Foundation is mainly a front organization which benefits Trump himself financially.

He brings up Bill Clinton’s philandering, but Hillary Clinton is the one running for president, not Bill, and Trump himself has been an obsessive philanderer.

Trump made a big deal about Hillary’s stamina. Hillary showed complete stamina throughout the 90 minute debate, but Trump quickly fell apart. One could see the comparison clearly in the split screen.

So, anytime Trump criticizes Hillary, one needs to examine Trump to find the source.

TERRORIST BOMBINGS IN NEW YORK AND NEW JERSEY

Hi Humans,

Congratulations to the New York city and state police, to the New Jersey state police, to the FBI, and anyone else involved in catching the terrorist who set off the bombs in New York and New Jersey a few weeks ago. This illustrates how diversity and tolerance help keep America safe. In Europe which has a long history of isolating minorities, the radical Islamic terrorists are able to hide in their separated communities. In America, which is a nation of immigrants, immigrant minorities are accepted and reciprocate with loyalty to America. The bomber was found in a doorway. He had nowhere to hide. Now if only we could end the gun anarchy, that would make America even more safe.

Hi Hillary,
Congratulations on a successful showing at the debate last night. You appeared calm, comfortable, focused, and presidential. Trump appeared uncomfortable, fidgety, defensive, and his usual crazy self. Good work!

HOW TO UNDERSTAND HUMAN LANGUAGE

Hi Humans, Dogs, and Other Creatures,
Here are some ideas that might help in understanding the language of humans:
1. When a human prefaces a sentence with "believe me," do not believe the sentence.
2. When a human says, "don't worry," then you should worry.
3. When a human says he has a plan, but he won't tell you what the plan is, that mean he has no plan.
4. When a human will not release his income tax return, that means he is hiding something in that return that he does not want you to see.
5. When a human dwells on "toughness," that means inside he feels weak.
6. When a human claims he will do "great things" without saying specifically how he intends to those things, that means he has nothing to offer.
7. Humans outside of the "establishment" are not necessarily any more honest than those inside the "establishment." But they might be less knowledgeable.
The list goes on and on, but a general rule of thumb is that whatever a human says consider the opposite. The opposite might be the truth.

THE DEBATE

Hi Human Hillary Clinton,
So tomorrow you are facing Tricky Trumpy in a debate. Just be yourself and you will do well. Remember you are the honest, competent, experienced, rational statesperson. Tricky Trumpy is the dishonest, incompetent, inexperienced, irrational television huckster and crook. Of course no matter what nonsense falls out of his mouth, his faithful will spin it as pearls of wisdom. But most Americans will see through him. They only have to show up at the polls.

CALIFORNIA PROPOSITION 63 OF 2016

Hi California Humans,
I recommend voting for California Proposition 63 in 2016. It will protect the public from the illegal transferring of bullets. If bullets can be prevented from getting into the hands of criminals, terrorists, and screwballs who want to do harm to their fellow humans, the State of California will be a safer place in which to live. Of course the NRA and the gun anarchists oppose the proposition because the gun lobby wants to sell as many guns and bullets as they can no matter how much harm they cause.
